youth savage axis

Looking to buy my daughter a youth rifle in 7mm08. I like the new Axis II with the accu-trigger but can only get it in 243. I can get the Axis xp in 7mm08 but wondering how the trigger will be. Any help would be great.

Re: youth savage axis

The axis trigger is pretty heavy , but a quick , easy cheap fix , lots of info on utube and savageshooter.com

Save a wolf , take one to the taxidermist

Re: youth savage axis

Definitely needs a trigger job if you don't get the accu trigger. I put a timney in the one for my son made a world of difference in grouping. Close to 8lbs down to a little under 3lbs. Helped my 8 year old son tremendously with grouping.

Nothing wrong with a 243 Winchester.

Re: youth savage axis

You'll be far better off in the long run with the 7mm/08...you can pick up a longer stock as he/she grows and their set for life..or just add a recoil pad to get the extra inch or so.

Going to load some Hornady 139 SST bullets in it.

Re: youth savage axis

I made the mods to the spring to lighten up the trigger and cut down the stock on this youth model. Nice rifle for the price IMO.
