CZ 452

I got a hankering for a new squirrle rifle. I narrowed it down to a CZ 452. Anyone have any experience with them? I'm undecided about which version to get. 20.9 inch heavy bull varmit? regular 22" or the sweet little 16 1/2 inch barrel? I plan on mounting a 4x16 scope on it. Back in the day I used my Marlin 781 {backwards safety} with a weaver 2x7 rimfire scope. That is the rifle I learned to shoot with. I would shoot squirrles behind the shoulder pretending they were deer. I took it out the other day and put a 3x9 40mm on it and got a few, but the trigger pull is like 6 pounds with a half mmile of creep. The firing pin and spring have seen better days. I had several misfires and need to cock it several times to make the shot. I need some input quick! CZ has discontinued them and they have some 453 model now which I am not enthused about.

Re: CZ 452

The 452 is an excellent rifle. I used one when I used to shoot rimfire silhouette competition. Mine is the 26' training rifle. Rifle is more accurate than I am.

Re: CZ 452

hunted gopher with one in April. Great gun. get one while there are still some floating around.
Re your reverse safety Marlin. got one. very accurate. You need to clean the inside of the bolt. that old wax on 22rf will bulitd up. simple, remove spray with gunout of wd-40.

I had Economy gunsmithing work on the trigger. For about $30 it is perfect.

Clean and tune the Marlin, and get the 452

Re: CZ 452

I have three CZ's. Look at the varmint 453. Nice. Fluted, free floated barrel, single set trigger. They are the most accurate rimfire rifles I have ever had. Squirrel gun should be a 17 HMR though. The 22 LR will drop 6 full inches at 100 yards when zero'd for 50. There is NO difference btw 50 and 100 when the 17 is zero'd for 50 and it knocks them OFF the tree. My 17's will shoot a 1/4 inch group at 50 and 100 with Remington ammo.

Re: CZ 452

Check out the comments on rimfirecentral.com. They have a forum devoted to the CZ.

BTW the CZ has a reverse safety, well it operates opposite the way a Model 70 works if that is what you mean.

As for the trigger on the CZ they are an easy fix.

Re: CZ 452

i have a ruger 77/22 and was i was thinking about 452 varmints for my boys but i don't like the safety on the CZ's. its opposite of every other gun i have. i'm thinking of getting another couple of 77/22's instead.

Re: CZ 452

I have a 452 heavy barrel in 17hrm, at 50 yards it groups in 1 jagged hole, <1" at 100 yards. The new ones have a single set trigger that is close to perfect.
