savage left handed scope mounts!

After 2 sets of scope mounts i still cant mount my tasco world class. This is my 14 year olds new gun. I am told because of the long action of the savage alot of mounts will not work. i am finding out its true. i did some research and was told to get a efw picatinney mount. they have alot of adjustment. Well they dont make it for left handed long action. i have very little adjustment on the scope with the one that will let me mount the scope. It isnt for a savage but a remington. It comes out over the reciever a quarter in.Does anybody here have a left handed long action Savage with a scope mounted. These mounts do not allow me to even put the scope cover on the front.Any help will be appreciated.

Re: savage left handed scope mounts!

you need a set of off set mounts with the off set sides facing the action, i'll try to find you a part number for what i used.

Buy a solid steel Warne base that is a Picatinney style. No difference between left and right hand. Just make sure you order the proper base. If you are not sure then call Warne and talk to the lady there. They will even sell to you directly, and will ship you exactly what you need. Offset rings like the ones above will work, but are more expensive, and not necessary if you buy the right base to start with. Tom.

Re: savage left handed scope mounts!

I'd go with hunter's suggestion. Because the one piece Picatinney base will create loading problems as it blocks the action considerably.

There are no right or left handed rings, they work both ways.
Yep. the Savage 110 generation of long actions are really loooong. mine 338 looks just like Hunter picture, but I have the Weaver model double extended. the Mullet rings he is recommending will also give you lateral windage adjustment.

Re: savage left handed scope mounts!

Below is a picture of a Warne one piece base. See how much longer it is than the Leupold for the same rifle?? And the Picatinney style base for the Savage has even more slots for more adjustment.

Personally on my Savage's I have the Picatinney style two piece base. They work just as well. Just not quit as much adjustment. Also a picture below of the two piece. It sounds like I work for Warne?? Tom.

Re: savage left handed scope mounts!

If you decide on the Warne 1-piece Picatinney base, you must get specific picatinney rings, as the cross-bar/slot dimensions are different vs. weaver slots. the weaver rings will attach to the rail, but picatinney ring cross bars will fit the slot snuggly. The weaver rings may tend to "shoot loose." I have been pleased with the Warne Maxima rings on my Model 10 Savage.

I am. Check out the Thumb Hole. I won that rifle in a contest, but it had a piece of garbage plastic stock. I like the rifle, but hated the stock. I use it as a single shot deer rifle. For a field gun. It is a 300 WSM. Tom.
