what to use for scope screws?/

will permatex blue work? it is medium set,i can't find any soft set around.

Yes, but only a small amount or they are a bugger to get out.

Clear fingernail polish works for me on rifles up to and including the .458....

Most of the companies use blue as a convention for their medium strength threadlocker product. I have used Loctite 242 (blue, medium) and it works fine. You can also go with Loctite 222 (purple) low strength. The 222 is actually a better choice as it is designed for smaller diameter screws.
