M1894 Sight Upgrade ?

Got a .44 M1894 Marlin from a gent here a while ago. Took a yr or so to gather bullet, powder,etc.. Am now considering a sight upgrade. Have no interest in a scope. Am thinking of a receiver rear sight, ghost ring or peep type. For longer eye relief. This, to deer hunt in the woods. What are your opinions ? What do you like ? Don't like,etc..

Re: M1894 Sight Upgrade ?

I have an old 44 also, 16" brl, mag tube cut flush with the fore arm wood. It's real short and light. A receiver sight gives longer sight radius and if you hunt like I do, a long shot is about 75 yards. I had a scope on it for a while, decided to go back to irons with a receiver sight, then back to oem sights. Where I hunt the receiver sights seemed to snag stuff a little more than I liked.Good luck to ya

Skinner peep and a Firesight front sight. Can't beat that combo.

Alrighty then!
