New Brass

Just bought a bag of new Remington brass for my 338 win mag
How many of you guys full lenght resize new brass before loading them.After they are fire formed all I do is neck size them.1 more question what is your pet load for the 338 mag.My gun shoots good with 71.5 gr of IMR 4831 AN A 225GR Hornady Interlock.

New brass(Rem&Win) is usually so dinged up around the neck that you should run it through the die to true it up. It will only size the neck area anyway because the body is within specs and the die won't touch it.

You should always resize brass when it is new.

And neck sizing only does not always work on the 338 Winnie or any other casing that can headspace on the belt.

Your chamber will tell you how you need to resize brass for a belted magnum. And as I said alot of times NS only will not work. You may have to bump those shoulders back also.

Personally I like the Sierra 250 grain bullet for the 338 caliber. In either the Winnie or the Wby. cartridges. They seem to fly very well for us. Tom.
