Plastic Front Sights on Marlin Bolt Rimfires

I just bought an XT-22 and like everything except the front sight. It has a cheesy plastic insert. I imagine it would function fine but it looks cheap and prone to breaking.

I have a scope for the gun so it doesn't matter much but I'm wondering if anyone knows of a metal replacement that would fit. What if I unscrewed the whole front sight and put the screw back in, would it be flush with the barrel?

Thanks

I found this same thing with my marlin rimfires. I have an Xt-22 mag and a 925 and I haven't had any problems with them breaking. I did try to take it off, but the screw was too long and stuck out, so I just left it on.

Go to your local SG store and ask for some filler screws. They always have them from taking them out of the reciever when they mount scopes for greenhorns.
