There's birds there just maybe a little early to see a significant number. You have to watch, there are 12 blinds areas located around the lake that are awarded to the lucky winners of the Cambria Somerset Water Authorities drawing. Those winners have the blind areas for the whole waterfowling season and have first dibs so even if you'd arrive before the holder you will be asked to leave or be escorted out by the proper authority. Me and my buddy both drew this year so if your interested in going I'm sure there's room.

Shootingstar,

Congrats on the blind Draw this year, I was like #17......
I drew last year and I started building a blind, but ran out of season and weather, so I mostly hunted out of a portable blind last year.
I've been trying to finish the remaining 20% this year. but since I didn't draw it fell of the to do list. At least I still have my boat blind (attached pic)....

I saw some birds there last year , but got froze out of my spot to early. Stinks that the water is down now, I wonder if it will have an effect on the birds

If you guys want to get together and hunt sometime let me know, I have a young dog I'd like to get some reps..

Good Luck tomorrow

Low water can make the birds land outside of gun range if it is far enough away from the shore.

We hunted it this morning, not many shots fired and the dam is way low. Birds seemed to be flying high. We hunted blind 12 and blind 8.

I took a drive around the dam yesterday afternoon, wow 😲 was the water down.

Be tough to hunt from most of the blind spots this year.

I was in 9 last year and I bet it's 50 yds or more out to the edge of the water.

Anyone hunting Monday or Tuesday?

Like Duckman69 said, we hunted Sat Am.............FOG was thicker than PEA SOUP!!!!!! at times you couldn't see the decoys which were only 10-15 feet off shore, sat amongst the fish boxes for cover. Should of taken the fishing rods and left the guns at home.......lol

Shootingstar,

I was wondering how you guys set/retrieve dekes out of blind 12? I would think the water is pretty deep there, and wading out would be risky to say the least..

you definitely need loooooooooooooooooooooong lines because it does drop off real quick, we threw the dekes out when setting and they were retrieved with a kayak. A fishing rod with a big treble hook on it would work also, just remember to have your fishing license with you we hope to have the blinds set up soon but with the water being so low i don't know if it's even worth setting anything up just yet?
