Labor day goose swat

Been a while since I posted on here, not much to shoot during the summer, but thank the lord early goose has arrived! Stuck it out through the rain from 6am till 8:30am, and they finally decided to hit the fields. Worked for these few, as only one flock showed but got to shoot at them twice. Brought along my buddy who is new to waterfowling. I think he's hooked now! And they were back in the field tonight.

Outsiders call us sadists or masochists; sometimes both. Others, mostly ourselves, describe our activities in romantic, even heroic, terms. We take ourselves very seriously and tend to forget that much of duck and goose hunting is fun and sometimes ridiculous.

The perils of duck hunting are great, especially for the duck.

Sweet. The birds flew behind us and landed in a field about 500 yards away from our set-up. I guess the weather must have changed their minds on Monday morning.

An archer shoots his targets as far as he can. A bowhunter shoots his target as close as possible.

Yeah it was definitely a tough one. Thought maybe the lighter rain would pick them up off the roost, but there wasn't any light rain lol. 9am was the magic time I guess. Did see a flock of 30-40 black ducks and a few woodies, good to see.
