NJ Migratory Bird Season Available

Migratory Bird Season Information Available

Biologist Ted Nichol's annual article on Migratory Bird Season Information and Population Status has been posted with information about the 2018-2019 migratory bird seasons. Detailed information on the population status of the state's waterfowl species and how the waterfowl seasons are affected is provided.
Notable highlights include:

The pintail daily bag limit was increased to 2 birds.

The black duck daily bag limit will remain at 2 birds, similar to last year.

The season for woodcock will be longer than previous years since states like New Jersey with statutory Sunday hunting closures were given compensatory days by the US Fish and Wildlife Service.

Now how long yet until Pa announces our migratory seasons? And will we get extra days to hunt woodcock since we aren't allowed to hunt on Sundays?

Plenty of scouting and good habitat makes for a great hunt.
