Annual Waterfowl Breifing

GAME COMMISSION TO HOST ANNUAL WATERFOWL BRIEFING
This year’s symposium to be held at Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area.

Representatives of waterfowl organizations, interested hunters and the public are invited to attend a briefing on Friday, March 16 on the status of Atlantic Flyway waterfowl populations and proposed federal frameworks for the 2018-19 waterfowl hunting seasons.
The briefing will begin at 1 p.m., at the Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area Visitors Center, 100 Museum Road, Stevens, PA 17578.
In addition to reviewing frameworks established by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) for upcoming waterfowl and migratory bird seasons, Game Commission staff will provide updates on current and planned research and management programs, as well as past hunting results.
Public comments will be accepted at the meeting; by sending a letter to: Pennsylvania Game Commission, Bureau of Wildlife Management, 2001 Elmerton Avenue, Harrisburg, PA 17110-9797; or via e-mail through [email protected].
Based on public comments and results of previous hunter surveys, Game Commission staff will prepare and present recommended waterfowl and migratory bird seasons, bag limits and related criteria to the USFWS for final approval.
All migratory bird-hunting seasons and bag limits must conform to frameworks set by the USFWS. States select their hunting seasons within these established frameworks.
There no longer are separately timed selections and announcements for “early” and “late” seasons. All selections will be made and announced at the same time, and will appear in the 2018-19 Pennsylvania Hunting & Trapping Digest.

I've spent most of my money on Waterfowling, Women and Whiskey.
The rest of my money I just wasted.

Yeah, it's at 1 pm on a Friday but since it's at MC I'm gonna make room in my schedule to be there.
Anyone else coming?

Why? They don't listen any way. Some of us have been complaining about the decline of waterfowl populations for years and it has fallen on deaf ears.

Looks like I might be the only hunter attending the Briefing?

How many ducks did you kill while you were complaining about declining populations?

You can't kill what isn't there. Only put in 70 days of duck season this year. Shot 26 ducks. Most of them were when the flight birds came through mostly Gadwells and teal. Only shot 4 woodies and 5 mallards and 3 blacks. 42 geese. Waiting on the report on the wings that I sent in the the Feds. My records are accurate, I keep a copy of the other survey that I send into the Feds. No. Of birds shot, birds harvested, birds lost, days hunted, type of birds. Been sending this one in for about 6 years.

New Jersey posted 2018/2019 seasons today.

Below are notable highlights:
The pintail daily bag limit was increased to 2 birds.
The black duck daily bag limit will remain at 2 birds, similar to last year.
The season for woodcock will be longer than previous years since states like New Jersey with statutory Sunday hunting closures were given compensatory days by the US Fish and Wildlife Service.
2018 is the third year for the new federal regulatory process where migratory bird season dates are set earlier in the year.

Yes, I know a couple of guys who target them. I don't shoot them because I do not like the taste. I have killed one years ago. That one was the last one.
