Froze out??

For the first time in a lot of years, looks like the weather pushed the majority of the birds outta here. My home roost went from 5,000 +/- to maybe 400. Boom to bust within a week. Once they go south, hard to get them back while the season is still in.

For those in the mainly "resident" fowl parts of the state, you probably don't see a huge change, but here in the SE, been a long time since the cold pushed them out.

Guess I should have hunted more in December......

Don't get me wrong, still some birds around, but not what were used to this time of year. Whats everyone else seeing?

Keep after 'em!!!

Ya this is normally late January early Feb type of stuff. Funny part is everything will open back up end of next week. I see a 47 in there. We'll be in jeans and a T shirt that day! I'm actually a little excited about it. It'll feel good to have a 'warm' day.

Least amount of birds we've seen in the last 5 years. Hopefully we get a thaw soon.

Numbers of birds around here are low but still a few pockets on creeks where there is open water.
MC numbers have gone down to several hundred geese, but I've seen the geese come back as soon as it warms up.
Time will tell.

I've spent most of my money on Waterfowling, Women and Whiskey.
The rest of my money I just wasted.

Good bit of birds here in Central PA, all on the open spring fed creeks/ponds. Problem in my area is that many of these areas are surrounded by houses which makes hunting almost impossible.

Anyone seeing any ducks? My friends in Maryland (Eastern Shore) say they are few and far between again this year.

I saw some video from the Jersey shore a few days ago. There were large numbers in the open water between the ice flows. You couldn't get to them and if you did get out there you would not get back in until spring.

There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn't true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true.

Could get a big January Thaw starting next week.
I'm headed to Jersey tomorrow and waiting for the big push back North! LOL

Nothing - Nothing - Nothing. Was out yesterday walking/glassing my typical spots. No tracks/poopie on the ice near open spots. I'm kinda baffled...Usually with a frozen river we get them up in the small cricks...Nothing...I'm guessing they got outta dodge. Only 2 weeks left - haven't fired a shot.
