Boat Build Finally Completed

It's taken me roughly 5 months and I've put the finishing touches on my duck boat today. I reckon I could install a flip up top, but that's the off season project along with a hydro-turf floor. I made the frame from 3/4" EMT conduit, based on the Shaggy boat blind design. The maiden hunt voyage is tomorrow at 0500. Ducks & geese beware!

Shallow water anchor brackets and pins installed.

Nice job. I helped build the first Barnegat bay sneak box I hunted out of for years.

That's gonna work great!
I'll be interested to hear how the shallow water anchor brackets work for you.
Good Luck.

There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn't true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true.

Charlie, I bought those anchor brackets for $28 for the pair from Sportsman’s Designs. A fellow named Jeremy owns the company. The brackets are made of stainless steel. The pins are just 3/4” EMT. I made an angle cut with a sawzall to make the anchor point on both pins. I cut the conduit at 6.5 feet. If you look at the bracket, there is a wingnut screw that snugs the anchor pin when it’s driven in the mud. I have little doubt it will work well. I’ll let you know how it handles the Allegheny River after tomorrow’s hunt.

Charlie, the shallow water anchor brackets and pins worked great. The boat held steady in the current along the bank of the Allegheny River. Unfortunately, all the ducks we saw today (100-125) were all high flyers and wouldn't decoy. My hunting buddy got a blonde phase mallard of all things. A very rare bird for sure. I reckon it's one of those seasons for the odd and crazy. We did see two mature bald eagles and one immature bald eagle.

Glad to hear the anchor brackets did their job, next test will be current plus a strong wind. When the blind is setup it acts kinda like a sail and pushes the boat around.
Tell me you got a pic of this rare duck??
