What am I hearing

While tending to traps the orher day, I could year warefowl calling high above me in Armstrong County. Iíve heard this same call for many years, usually around Vetrans Day. It sounds like he woo woo woo sound that made as kids when playing cowboys and Indians. ( imitating Indians ). Are they some kind of geese or swans? They are always high flyers and Iíve only ever heard them in early November. Iím not a watefowler but have always wondered what they are.

Yep tundra swans no doubt. If you look up and see big white birds they will be swans.

I always love hearing them come over. It makes me think about hearing them on traplines from 40 years ago. To this day, when I hear them flying over, I always stop to watch and listen.

Same here.

Heard some going over one night this past week around 11:00 PM............... AMAZING how they navigate day or night !!!

Also amazing how so many people think they are seeing snow geese when they are seeing swans.
