License Question

When you purchase a license online that has to be mailed to you it usually takes 7-10 days or so to arrive. Has the PGC ever considered allowing you to hunt on the receipt you get when you order online until you receive the mailed license? Or maybe you can? Other state agencies allow you to use the receipt temporarily until the permanent documents arrive. Couldn't find any information on whether you can do that with hunting license purchases yet.

If you purchase your license online when they first become available then this is a moot point.

If you're not planning far enough ahead and purchasing your license in time to get it then you're out of luck.

This above. License have tags on them, the receipt does not. There should not be exceptions made for people who don't plan ahead. Licenses go on sale about a month before the old one expires. If someone needs a license right now, there are stores that have issuing agents who sell them.

Not sure why people on this site can't just answer a question without a smart*** attitude. I am well aware of when the license (general license) are due and am smart enough to order them on time. Been doing it for 50yrs now. If I must explain then here goes. I don't usually buy a furtaker license but yesterday evening (friday) i was offered a chance to hunt coyote with some guys with dogs. Since they were going early today (Sat) I was wondering if I could purchase furtaker online and be legal for this morning. Guys like you and WW are why few people post on here anymore. I, for one, get tired of being preached to everytime I ask a simple question.

Woodswalker, I don't think tags come with a furtaker license. It could be printed out like some of the other stamps if the PGC wanted to.

Zeke, what stopped you from going to a sporting goods store or another issuing agent and buying a license, stores are open in the evening on Fridays. I have little sympathy for people who could solve their own problem yet want someone else to solve it for them. Get some initiative.

You do during a big game season, e.g. Flintlock Deer.

T.58: "Coyotes may be hunted from the first day to the last day inclusive of any big game season only by persons who possess a valid furtaker’s license, or by persons lawfully engaged in hunting big game who have a valid tag."

COYOTES: No closed season. No limit. Outside of any big game season (deer, bear, elk and turkey), coyotes may be taken with a hunting license or a furtaker license, and without wearing orange. During any big game season, coyotes may be taken while lawfully hunting big game or with a furtaker license.

§ 2711. Unlawful acts concerning licenses.
(a) General rule.--Except as otherwise provided in this title, it is unlawful for any person to:
(1) Hunt or take any game or wildlife by any means or manner or device, including the use of dogs, without first securing and personally signing the required license. The required license must be carried on person when hunting, furtaking or taking any game or wildlife within this Commonwealth.

A receipt is not a license.
