Re: NAFA Day 1 Wild Fur Results

They withdrew a lot of reds and greys. I had my 2 best reds withdrawn. I averaged good for my greys, but was extremely disappointed with the one that sold for $4. A lot of work for $4. lol. Not sure why either. I had 4 top lot greys, and one that sold for the least. lol. I had two $30 coyotes and one $15 one, all shot, trapped around the same time with the same general color, same general size and seemed furred up the same. lol. Even graded the same. Some times it makes you wonder selling this early. I think I might hold out for the June auction instead of sending in for the next one, with the rest of my fur.

I had one of those 4$ greys also, I knew it was damaged but I can't believe they let them go for that little. I give up on guessing the quality of coyotes, I just don't know what they are looking for.

Re: NAFA Day 1 Wild Fur Results

I don't even have a clue how it could have been damaged. I had no greys with any blood, holes or hair slippage. Only thing I can figure is it was one from the opening night. But what didn't make any sense is that lower graded one's went for 7 times more. lol.

Re: NAFA Day 1 Wild Fur Results

This might have been a bad year for NAFA to expand the auction. Greg Kohl will be on his route again this weekend for pick up. That auction is supposed to be in April and the regular on e at the end of May. I have mink and muskrat I'm going to drop off this weekend. Maybe that new April sale will be better attended.

I got $44.00 for my red fox yesterday and I have mink and muskrat going today. I see the coon are not going off until Sunday.

Re: NAFA Day 1 Wild Fur Results

I've talked to Greg about holding furs for later sales and the difference in averages. He said overall averages were better at the earlier sale. That is why I got got as much in as I could for the first sale. It held true last season for my furs. Looking at the prices for reds yesterday per grade they were close the the May sale. What I expected, I had 39 average on my reds and I knew the grades were not as good. Hope you guys with rats make out well.

Re: NAFA Day 1 Wild Fur Results

Got $23 for my med female mink. Happy with that for sure. Only thing I am really disappointed on is the $4 grey and the $15 coyote that was graded, colored and sized exactly the same as the 2 that I got $30 for.
