NAFA Numbers

Well, here then are NAFA's "estimates". I hope the actual numbers aren't that much higher, these are high enough (more coons and rats offered than last year or at least the May sale, and I suspect some of the other numbers are higher as well).

Coyote- 20,000
Red Fox- 42,000
Gray Fox- 20,000
Wild Mink- 55,000
Muskrat- 500,000
Fisher- 12,000
Otter- 18,000
Martin- 95,000
Beaver- 130,000
Ermine- 50,000
Coon- 550,000
Bobcat- 7,000
Lynx- 6,000
Badger- 4,000
Wolves- 1,000

I checked out my NAFA account this morning and the pelts I sent are on there but no actual numbers yet. According to the schedule, coon and muskrat will kick of the auction on February 17.

The horizon is your starting point.

Re: NAFA Numbers

The catalogue shows Feb 17th but the auction schedule shows coon the 22nd....I've been told they are almost certainly following the schedule as that is what the buyers got sent to go by....

I'd like to know where all the coon came from...most of the coon belt had a short season like we did...maybe the April sale will show that? I'm up to 13 form the April sale lol...have 22 on this coming sale...tough coon season for sure!

I just read that they are expecting at least a 15% increase on reds over last year. It seems that maybe these local buyers were hosing the guys that sold early to them. This is why I ship to NAFA.
our coon numbers were down this year too, but I do know 5 or 6 Guys that never sent any coon in that caught some decent numbers this year. That may be where the higher numbers are coming from. I have never run into anyone while trapping my normal spots, and this year I couldn't make a set without seeing someone or someone's traps after the second week of season. Last year's prices really pulled all of the wanna be trappers out of the woodwork

Re: NAFA Numbers

id say a lot of new guys hit the coon hard and early this year. I no ive bought and shipped almost 3xs the coon this year compared to the first nafa sale last year.

Re: NAFA Numbers

All you have to do is look back in the archives of the trapping forum site to late October and early November and see how many coons guys were getting. Guys were trapping a bunch of coons then which in tern may really drop the overall average if most of those go for "early unprimed goods".

I'm hoping for an advance in red fox as well panaxman! It would sure make the check,or what NAFA says, cheque look nice.

Re: NAFA Numbers

And just where are the Oppossum numbers? They don't even list them under "Grinners!" In all seriousness, why are they not included?

Re: NAFA Numbers

I posted the link below that has a revised auction schedule. You're right Banjoman, I did not see possum on the list.

Re: NAFA Numbers

They'll be charging trappers this year!
Don't know why no one likes them....I respect Grinners more than the Progressive Liberal!

This guy:Coon Creek Outdoors achieved top lot with his 'possums. I find it commendable that he makes sure he gets a solid $5.

I top lotted 2 a couple years ago. I can't remember if I got $10 or $10.50 for them. lol. My wife laughed at me about it because I always get a few greys each year in top lots, 8 last year, and tell everyone about it. She asked me if I was gonna "brag" about it with a possum. I said heck yes I am!! I'll take that for one any day!! lol. They were both almost pure white and huge. One was 18lbs. lol.
