Re: Getting ready to sell some furs.

Talked to Epler today he said 30 for upper reds and 15 on top coon, has me torn whether to sell before or after the Nafa auction. I personally think his fox prices are low.

wanna be long liner

Re: Getting ready to sell some furs.

The district 5 fur sale is this week. Probably will be comparable to the district 3 sale.

Over on the mink trapping site a guy posted prices from the Indiana State Trapping Association sale. Even their prices were very comparable to the district 3 sale. Although the red fox and muskrat had decent prices.

The horizon is your starting point.

Re: Getting ready to sell some furs.

I don't know, what would a good fox price be. I've been seeing this often lately either here or on T-Man. The discussion of prices and what some say is low, and thats a rip off. Maybe the peak was last year and thats that. Can't expect $60+ fox all the time cause they were last year. With the stuff going on overseas lower prices should be expected. Its not like Epler was offering $5 for top fox. It just bothers me to keep seeing "that sounds low" its not last year anymore, its not the late 70's anymore(not that I was around then) just saying.

Re: Getting ready to sell some furs.

The better reds did $47 - $50 at the D-3 sale , 3x coons topped at $18, rats did very well mostly $12 on adults, 6 or 7 on the kits.

If Dutch is paying $25 for coons, he won't have to worry about anyone else buying them

Well, from what I've seen in trapping magazines on fur prices, that offer from Epler seems low from what they are predicting. I think it's appropriate to list what prices are being offered from different buyers and if they are "lowballing" guys then they can take their furs elsewhere. I don't catch enough to justify sending my furs north, so I like to have an idea what prices are out there and who's trying to make money off other trappers by offering low prices. No this ain't the 70's, but arming people with information is always good.
