The guy sure wants you to use half a jug of the stuff per set. HA! My opinion is that of course it works cause coons eat almost anything, but if you really need the stuff, save yourself a ton cash and make it yourself. Its basically fish food pellets mixed with molasses and probably glycerin for an anti-freeze.

Plus, what if you don't catch anything in some traps when you use it? You'll have to dig out all that sticky fish food by hand and clean the sticky mess that is now all over your trap. Sounds like a giant pain in the junk.

Coming from a guy that sells trapping equipment. ANY commercial coon bait is a waste of money. They will not produce any better than stuff you can make at home for a fraction of the cost.

Re: Truckload coon bait

A regular old deep dirt hole set loaded with one ounce of fox urine or a charred ear of field corn will take every coon that passes. The bug-a-boo is you better know where the coon are traveling. No matter what you use for bait or lure isn't going to help if your set if its made out in left field someplace.

There is no magic in trapping. Charlie Dobbins taught me years ago that the more you study what you are trying to trap the easier it is to catch it.

I trap mink because I don't know any better

Lure is an asset, that will get a coon searching and/or stopped. But as Old Mink said location and animal knowledge will get you further than any super secret potion. And that goes for any animal.
