Aging turtles

Is there any way to tell how old snapping turtles are ?

No, if you didn't see it hatch from an egg, there is no way to accurately age a turtle.

I see said the Blind Carpenter to his Deaf Helper as he picked up his Hammer and Saw!

Be careful while handling snapping turtles. Old George Bricker had one lock on to his finger when he was a teenager. They had to take a hatchet and chop off the turtle's head to free George's finger. This would have been back in the late 1800s. When I was a boy George showed me the scar on his finger. Even though George labored with those hands throughout his life the turtle bite scar was still quite prominent.

I trap mink because I don't know any better

Just grab them by the tail! Dont' be scared!
