Re: fleshing knife

I've fleshed thousands of pelts with the cheap knives and is what I do the majority of them with now. That being said I have also tried about everything out there, minus a caribou and post. I will have both of those this year to try. The Sheffield stye for me was like fleshing with a broad sword, I could not get use to it. I like the MB knife about the best, it does take some getting use to as it is long but not near as heavy as the Sheffield style. Not knowing what amount of hides you do, I would say for the average trapper a Necker is about all you need, quality product and not crazy expensive.

Re: fleshing knife

I've used the blue English knife for a few years with excellent results. I just purchased a Post fleshing knife and I'll give that a try this fall.

Re: fleshing knife

Trapperrick, go pick up a couple roadkill possums and try out that Post knife.
I still haven't pulled the trigger on one and I'm looking for some feedback.

Re: fleshing knife

I've been seeing a ton road killed raccoons lately, I might have to give it a try and I'll let you know.

Re: fleshing knife

Dietsch is in Lima right now at the National Convention. I called him this morning to ask him to stop by Jim Bethels booth and grab me a Post flesher. He said it's in his truck as right now just waiting to come back home! Thanks, Dietsch!
