Trap Placement

Found this while I was checking my line today. Looks like a old fire pit or where someone dumped some coals. It is right along a gas well road the is between woods and a corn field. I was thinking of keeping rocks where they are and putting trap right in the middle of the coal pile. Also, putting lure under a rock with some bait in a hole I'll make. Any thoughts?
