Re: best coyote set?

A blended flat set or blended double mouse hole catch all my yotes.A 12" cable stake will hold yotes forever in my area but this is mountains and rocks. If your in farm country, I'd go with a 16".Catch alot of yotes on canine call,pro-squeeze,Jamesons gland lures,Lennons natures call.Invade their territory with another yote smell and they ALWAYS check it out.Set right in the travel ways. They won't travel far to investigate smells like a fox. When setting logging roads or powerlines,i'm right in the middle of it and not off to the side.make them feel safe to check out your sets;no heavy cover as a backing.Guide their foot well as they will not work sets like fox, imo.I think with most, you get one shot at them stepping up to check it out.some pups will work your sets hard, but if you want to catch alot of yotes, catch mom or dad first and the pups will keep coming back for days.Flat/scent posts are what has always got the big ones for me,pups in the hole sets.So ALWAYS have a few flat sets around your hole set,and keep it low key and natural looking. This is what works for me in the mountains.Farm country may be way different as they are use to larger groundhog holes and such

Re: best coyote set?

Jayden41, may I ask what cable stakes you're driving into that mountain soil? I have a heck of a time driving re-bar most times. How many inches back and offset? Thanks
