House cats and DP's??

has anyone ever caught and house cats in a dp coon trap?? I have a nice pond by my house that coons are always by but im a litle nervous that my mothers cat across the dirt road will get caught. How will i explain that? I thought of using marshmello's in the dp and using some fish oil around the dp. Any thoughts?

Cats and believe it or not skunks. Cage trap them and don't worry.

Re: House cats and DP's??

Dude this year I have caught 3 house cats, 2 grinners, and a skunk in my dp's . The cats were all caught with a fish based bait so as longear said stick to sweeter baits if you are worried. However if you catch a cat don't worry about it . The traps don't hurt them at all and they are easily released without any injury at all. Good luck!

What type trigger did these traps have? Pull or push pull type

Re: House cats and DP's??

That is a great point. 2 cats the skunk and the grinners were all with the Z-trap which is the push/pull trigger and the other cat was a duke with the pull trigger. I had a cotton ball soaked with shellfish oil below the trigger and I am assuming that one of its claws snagged the cotton ball which in turn fired the trap.
