Grinners & more Grinners!

I checked my traps this morning and had 2 grinners! Other than 1 red fox, 1 coon & 1 muskrat that's all I've been catching!

I have adjusted my sets to be along their travelways along the edge of the river with a few dirthole & scent posts. I have seen coon and mink tracks, but I just can't seem to catch them. I should add that I didn't have time to properly scout my area before season since the places I was going to set changed ownership and I was forced to look for new ground!

This kind of stinks! I made some real nice sets yesterday with high hopes for today with the snow coming, but as of this morning all I had was GRINNERS.

I thought for sure the critter would be traveling last night, but not even a fresh track along the edge of the river!

Re: Grinners & more Grinners!

I've caught so many grinners this year it isn't funny. 20 at least.. Some of them only slightly bigger than a gray squirrel.. I feel your pain..

It is time to manage avian predators!

Re: Grinners & more Grinners!

Many years ago when I trapped canines for a week I caught my share of grinner's. I became a water trapper about 23 years giving up the land trapping. I don't often catch grinner's now and I really miss them.

I didn't make it to the gym today. That makes five years in a row.
