Yes it does give a bad name. Forums are always full of macho talk towards the antis. But it's not the anti's we need to fear, there's not enough of them to make a difference. It's our own indifference to the sensitivities of the vast non-trapping public, and that includes a lot of hunters that are not keen on trapping. Incidents like this have farther reaching consequences than an anti spouting off. We need to be sensitive to those that are not trappers and not do things that offend non-trappers. Every business and profession has non-applealing aspects to it and a smart professional keeps those aspects away from the general public's view and brings to light the positive and finished results.
A couple years ago I saw a few skinned coon tossed on an uphill bank in plain view along a dirt road. It was as repulsive to me as a trapper as if it had been a bag of garbage. They could have just as easy found an out of sight place to toss them.
