Cats and Opposum in traps

I have to ask: If you catch a cat (feral) or a opposum do you have to reboil the trap because of the scent or will you still catch coon on them?

Re: Cats and Opposum in traps

You can reset the trap the same way it was before you caught the cat or possum.Your trap will smell just like all the ground around the set and another critter won't notice the difference. However don't take that trap and make a new set with it. The smell of whatever you caught before will be on the trap at the new set and another critter will dig it up right away.
