How to keep dirt from freezing??

Whats everyones take on keeping there dirt from freezing? mixing salt in with the sifted dirt? Using dried ant hill dirt? I just cant grasp the concept of buying dirt that dont freeze. Thank you

I've been using pre-sifted dirt or anthill dirt and spraying on glycol in layers as I cover the trap. Works good, and doesn't have the issues salt has, like rusting traps badly.
