How should i treat my new traps?

This is my first time with new traps, I have some duke#3's and some duke DP's that are brand new with a little surface oil on them. I did just buy a quart of KBL Quick Trap Dye. Im wondering if i should prep them somehow before dipping them? Thank you

Re: How should i treat my new traps?

For the coil springs Boil them or throw them in the dishwasher to get the oil off. Let them dry completly and you are ready to dip. DP's I would say set. Coons IMO are not bothered by too much of anything but getting a quick easy meal. If you want you can do the same as with the #3's but one catch with a coon in a dp and the dip pretty much comes right off. Up to you.

Those duke traps you may want to add and inline swivel and night latch them, there is some other tuning that I would do to them, before I degreased and treated.
