electric calls

i got 2 bait calls i no u cant have them at a set. i read in a book to put it in a pipe or can off the ground to lure animals in to an area. has any body tried this method b4? if so how far away to set the laws arnt that clear on them kinda like setting near a bait pile they dont give a dist away?

I tried some squeakers back when they came out 25-30 years ago. I never could do a thing with them and concluded they were not worth the time and effort. I gave mine to some kids who used to come and visit my fur shed. I don't recall them mentioning anything they did with them either.

Of course these were the early days of electronics for outdoor purposes. I can only assume improvements were made over the intervening years and squeaker makers are making a much better product.

Tried them a few years ago. Did not work for me.

I recently asked this very question on trapperman forums and got this reply: They work great for bobcat and gray fox...

But I'v caught a ton of coons with them also... usually have to clear out the coons before anything else has time to get to the trap...

I get them from Grit Guy...
