Duke vs Victor: 1.5s

Not considering the price, which of these is the better all-around trap? I have some Dukes but have never dealt with Victors at all. Thanks!

Re: Duke vs Victor: 1.5s

I have used both and see little difference. I may be partial to victors since I have used the brand for my 55+ years of trapping but i haver held incidental coyotes in botth brands in 1.5 although i would recoment 1.75 or bigger for a steady diet of coyotes.

Re: Duke vs Victor: 1.5s

I purchased a 2 dozen Duke #2s and 2 dozen #11 double longs in the late 90s. They were nothing but junk. Now they have come a long way with their product since then. There are plenty of trappers happy with that they have to offer as a product line. There are more good things said about what they are putting out now days than bad. I got burnt once, Im one of those guys who will not go back. Heck I had #11s with two different size springs on them. There were just too many problems to mention without writing a novel. But that would be beating a dead horse as theyve ironed out allot of those flaws/defects.

If you can get a good deal on the Victors buy them why pass up on what you already know to be a good deal?

Re: Duke vs Victor: 1.5s

If you get a chance ALWAYS buy Victor Traps! Duke traps are made in Korea!

I love Victor traps and I try to always buy American Made!

There are still some manufacturers here in the US. I would love to have a couple dozen MB Traps, but they are salty!

One of my goals for this season is to maybe get enough fur to buy a dozen or 2 of MB 450's....

Catches/goals
Coyotes-0/1
Greys-0/3
Reds-0/3
Cats-0/1
coon-0/10
beaver-0/1
possum-0/3
skunk-0/3

Re: Duke vs Victor: 1.5s

No-brainer,I'd buy new Dukes before used victors.Duke 1 1/2 coilsprings are probably the strongest trap in that class.i'd be checking the springs on the victors before buying them. They seem to have weak springs, and need replacing after only a few years
Dukes may be made in Korea, but the company donates alot to trapping orgs.and kids.So in my eyes, its a great company.I use almost all Dukes and have never had a problem
