Trap Prep Question

I boiled my land/fox traps in water for about an hour, let them air dry for about 10 days on a pallet, waxed them and let em hang to dry for about 4 hours or so. Then put in clean tub.

Will this work?

Should I of boiled the traps in Lye to clean them up?

Re: Trap Prep Question

Are thay brand new traps? I boil new traps in lye but the old ones just get boiled. Lye will help take off factory oil. The dishwasher does a great job also but just don't let the wife catch you!

The horizon is your starting point.

Re: Trap Prep Question

Most of traps are not new. All the new ones I used a de-greeser soap and rinced before boiling.
