Need some input

This weekend my QDMA branch had our first coyote trapping/hunting seminar. With interest about hunting/trapping increasing we are thinking about having a hunt this year. We would include all disiplines of taking predators. Dogs, calling, bait piles and trapping. Looking for what everyone would like to see in an hunt? We are based in SW PA but would try to set up multiple check in stations. I have talked to T & T Furbuyers and they would be one place. Registration Fees? Prizes? Different categories for different style of taking the yote. Include fox? On the final weigh in day we would like to have a seminar of some kind and award the prizes then. Again we are just gauging interest in the event and trying to see what you would like in it. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Re: Need some input

well one factor is you would have to hold this in trapping season for the trappers to be legal....

Re: Need some input

I fully understand that as I too am a trapper. Im juat seeing if any other trappers would participate. Im a trapper and alot of times i feel we are left out of the contests.

yes we are.....for a trapper to fully have a chance in a contest tho the contest would have to run longer that 2-3 days like most are run.....IMO

Re: Need some input

I was thinking of running it from a saturday till saturday or sunday till sunday. The final day we would have a dinner and get together to award prizes. Predators taken that day could be weighed in at the dinner. Like i said before its still in the brainstorming stage now. Just wanna gauge intrest from trappers and other potential entrants.

Re: Need some input

sounds like a good idea but is it to include trapping i got 2 yotes the last weekend of trapping during the mosqueto creek contest. down side is i also had something killed and removed from a trap. i followed his tracks to my set i wont b setting during any contest. there is just to much temptation with money on the line it only takes a couple rejects to ruin a good thing.

Re: Need some input

Best of luck if you go through with it!

Like was said, i had a coyote stolen last year...convenientlyit too was during a contest....could been a coincidence but might not have been...the contests can be fun...but at the same time they can bring out the worst in people...
