Bobcat Stats 2012 - HPA Members

Guys, after the release of the Bobcat and Fisher numbers, I thought that it be beneficial to do our own Bobcat survey (hopefully this hasn't already been posted and I missed it). So, if you trapped bobcats this season (trapping only, not ran with hounds) tell us the details. Did you have success? Male or female? Weight? What kind of trap and set did you use? I think it would be cool to compare the trappers on here to the rest of the PA cat stats. Thanks

Since I created the original post, I will start.

I trapped 3 days for cats exclusively. I ran 6 sets.
I caught a 38 pound male on the 3rd day
I caught him in a #2 Bridger 4CS in a cubby set

I had a hard time scouting them this year due to the lack of snow around here......I just had to set on locations I had previously saw cats, and sign.....or where I had a hunch cats were spending time......

I set about a dozen sets the first Sunday of the season, and I connected with a 18 pound male the last Friday of the season..........I caught him in a Duke #2 in a walkthrough cubby

Re: Bobcat Stats 2012 - HPA Members

I caught and released one (hoping for a bigger one) the 2nd sunday of the season. I ran a lot of traps, and spent a lot of time doing it (I have to travel to a cat wma). The set I caught the cat in: Just added the set the friday afternoon around 3pm (day and a half before catch). I caught the cat in a brand new mb 550 4c, that was guarding a double dirthole. One hole contained deer liver, the other had beaver castor. I estimate the cat to be approx. 20lbs.... not sure, it's the first and only cat I caught. Cat was released using the bucket method, no damage to the cat. I never connected with another the rest of the season. No regrets!!

I'll keep my money, guns, ammo, and health care; you can keep your change
