Fox and pups

I was out for groundhogs last evening, when I came around the corner there stood a red fox in the hay field. So I put the scope on it to investigate. She was with 2 pups, after a few minutes watching more pups started popping out the hole. She had 5 total. It sure was neat to watch them frolic and play, while mom licked and bit at them.

This den is out in a field about 75 yards to nearest woodline. It was a groundhog hole last year. I thought they had about 2-4 young, so when I saw 5, I was surprised. Really got me excited for trapping in late fall. Even though those pups will move out. Anyone else seeing young ones?
