Help needed with Red Fox

Hi, I am not a trapper, but I might need one. We live on the edge of the woods. We have a Red Fox coming out of the woods and into our back yard every morning for a couple of weeks now. He is driving our two dogs cazy ;-) We live near New Tripoli, PA. I am wondering how I go about getting someone to come trap this fox and possibly relocate him. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks, Tom

Trapping season is over in Pa.for fox this year. It`s probably a fox that has a den to raise her little ones close by.

Re: Help needed with Red Fox

I am sure there are licensed nuscience (sp) trappers in the area that could live trap and relocate it for you.

Re: Help needed with Red Fox

Not to play devil's advocate, but I do not believe relocation is a legal option with a fox in Pennsylvania. However I could be wrong.

Unless you keep poultry or cats in your yard, I don't see a red fox being a problem.

I trap mink because I don't know any better

Re: Help needed with Red Fox

I have two Jack Russels that are chomping at the bits to get out there and tangle with the fox. They are (I am sorry to say) not trained as hunters. Do you think I need to worry too much about them? We typically walk them on leash 3 times a day. When they get an opportunity to run loose, they go on a mad hunt ;-)

Re: Help needed with Red Fox

Tom, I sent you a PM as i'm willing to help you out next fall when the season is open if they are still around.

Also, i've seen two different fox working the field across from my house the past week. They don't really appear to be mousing it, but could be. I think they have (or are about to have) young ones near by.

The only thing you'd need to worry about from the sounds of it is the dogs running off and that's not exactly the fox's fault...

Most likely a fox isn't going to mess with 2 JR's and from what I know of the breed, they're feisty buggers and can probably hold their own against a fox.
