red fox ??????

kinda new to trapping started 3 yrs ago with 6 traps its my 3rd yr up to 48 for canines and about 15 1.5 and connies for water critters. but to the question do red travel in heavy wooded areas. most of my sets r about 1/2 mile or so from any kind of feild or powerline. iv got 3 greys and 4 coyotes this yr not one red . r they there and im not getting them or do they avoid heavy timber???

I seen reds miles away from any big fields
try finding little open areas
try setting on logging roads

you can catch one just about anywhere but big open spaces are better for reds. they are cowards and want to see for a distance all around them

I have seen red fox around here on steep thick laurel choked river hillsides......

maybe its the high coyote population iv got 4 coyotes in the last month and a half of the season.just wasnt sure about there habitat. thank you u for ur info

around me reds live in the same areas as the yotes but tehn again the reds might stay low when the coytes come through

trapper54 nice doubles they all the same location i see a big opening in the back of the one photo. im pritty mutch in old over grown timber like most state game land high canopy and little to no underbrush.

you can catch just as many fox in the woods as in fields. just gotta learm how to trap woods. all differnt locations btw.
