Re: Fox Bait?

bacon grease works... look over at the lures thread I started yesterday. Some good info on there.

It is time to manage avian predators!

Re: Fox Bait?

bacon
hot dog
bacon grease
talow
fish oil
egg
hard boiled egg
rotten hard boiled egg
cracklins
lard
any cooked fat, preferably charred a little (what you cut off of the steak you eat for dinner)
grape jelly
hamburg

wanna go further
cook lard until liquified, get cheap bottle of liquid smoke(99 cents at dollar store) and dump into lard, stir, let thicken, now you have a LDC smear lure that can be used in a hole, flat set or above a set as an added attractor.

Go to wallyworld, buy cheapest pack of junk bacon ends you can get, cook it until it's burned and crumbling, mix this in with cooked lard and let cook together for a while, remove from heat, allow to setup.

Want to get real fancy, dump dark food coloring into the mix so everyday when the sun gets to it it absorbs heat, causing it to release fresh smell daily.
Yes there are better but these will/ have worked, set on sign and your catches will come.

Re: Fox Bait?

Any commercially available meat based bait aughta work...

Dead mice, deer meat scraps etc can be used...if you got a place to trap mice or a deer to cut up...this time of year when its cold, fresh bait alone will just freeze and not likely to see activity from it...not much smell and it'll freeze and give off hardly any smell...a good lure and/or strong bait is typically used to fight the cold...and good baits and lures have ingredients that battle the cold...

Hope that's somewhat helpful....
