Gray from Today (pic)

I just love walking down a logging road and seeing a gray fox's tail whirling in the distance. I don't get near as many grays as reds, but they are more than welcome on my line.

They are beautiful. Same here on the numbers, I have alot more reds than greys, either that or I don't know how to catch greys......that's entirely possible.

Re: Gray from Today (pic)

Great pics, wish we had a few grays around here. They are a cool looking fox.

The handful I catch when trapping north central Pa. are usually far more aggressive than the reds I catch here in SEPA.

Do you find that to be true?

Eh...wot?

Oh my goodness yes. Everybody talks about fisher this...bobcat that...when it comes to feisty critters.
They've got nothing on an adult male gray fox. Those boys come at you like you owe them money!

Re: Gray from Today (pic)

However, there is a Youtube video of a fisher laying a whooping on a gray fox.

Re: Gray from Today (pic)

I saw that video.. The fisher clearly has the upper hand in that one....
Gray fox tail twirling in the distance? I haven't seen that. All the ones I caught this season were sleeping or playing possum til I got within 5 feet. Then the tazmanian devil comes alive. My buddy took video of one he was so impressed.. They certainly are feisty little guys!

It is time to manage avian predators!

Re: Gray from Today (pic)

Nice! Congrats!! That is my next goal....a gray fox...I've got yotes, reds and coons tanned (and have trapped all 3)...I need a gray tanned for the wall! I got some around...got a hayset on a farm I know one hangs around....only sign I seen there yesterday when setting was yote scat...
