crappy post...

well, lets ID some poop mauser (and his ole faithful hound dog) found today...

took the coondog pup for a walk around a farm today i thought might be worth setting...hes a pro at finding poop and hes unfixed so he shows me tons of possible scent posts too..

mink?? was probably 40-50ft ft from a small stream..

red fox??

red fox or coyote? it was scattered about there..hard to see..looks like the farmer dumped some oats there..

im horrible at telling poop apart..and no, im not gunna taste it! just need to learn to ID it..with the help of y'all..i need to learn red fox/yote/gray fox/bobcat..

anyways, i got 3 sets in there today..

if thats mink scat, i need to try to trap em next year! i found tracks last winter in the snow right around the close of the season about a mile away...might have more mink around than i think...there used to be an old mink fur farm in the area..i reckon theres remnants from it runnin around now..

Re: crappy post...

Now those are some crappy pictures.

I see a wad and an empty shell in two of the photos.

Not sure on the first pic, but I am thinking the rest of them are all coyote.

Re: crappy post...

Thanx guys....first one I still think mink or possibly weasel...but it think that's too much for a weasel and not sure I got weasels here?

2nd one I called red fox due to the tapered ends...

Very likely all coyote except the first are getting tough to find...I don't do any good by Sunday, I may remake most my sets and make them more coyote specific...but, I think they will take yotes no trouble as they coyotes aren't trap smart...took 3 in haysets last winter...and walked to my sets pretty much daily...they aren't skittish like yotes are supposed to be...perks of trapping suburban farmland I reckon...

If all the scat I've been seeing/setting is yote scat (all looks like the stuff in these pics)...well, I got a bunch of yotes to get! Much rather skin fox...but, I ain't picky!
