Comment On The District 11 Auction

I noticed at the recent District 11 auction only 427 muskrats were sold. Thirty years ago when I ran the auction we would have a half a dozen guys who caught that many or more alone. We usually sold 10,000 to 12,000 in that single day auction.

Another interesting note, several years running I had the only mink entered in the auction and that figure was 2 or 3. We just didn't have that many of those critters around.

The 'rats do make me sad though and I will no longer set a trap in this area that may lead to a 'rat capture. I do not want to be responsible for taking the last one.

I trap mink because I don't know any better

I'm getting worried about taking the last red fox where I am LOL. There was another coyote sighting nearby. I did have a critter steal bait again ( bunny foot wedged under a rock), I suspect the culprit is the red fox who left tracks nearby. The last red fox??!!?

FTW, I feel the same way in my area. It wasn't this way last year, but this year the animals just aren't here. Mice and rabbits everywhere, but nothing to eat them

Oldmink, were rats fetching over $10.00 when you were in charge of the sale?

I didn't make it to the gym today. That makes five years in a row.

They had that sale in the 1800s?
