Dogproof coon traps

I know there was a post about these before.

What are your thoughts on the new dogproof raccoon traps. I was thinking about buying a few for a farm where the farmer has some labs running around. For those who use them, how do you bait and set them?

Re: Dogproof coon traps

IMO they are the fastest way to set for coon, i love em. i just stick a marshmellow on the trigger and squirt some fish oil in the trap and some around it and if there is coon there youll catch them.

wanna be long liner

Re: Dogproof coon traps

Do you have to do anything to them before you set them? Do you set them out or do you put things around them so they aren't just out in the open?

Re: Dogproof coon traps

I washed and waxed mine. (I just bought 2) Set the first one a week ago with mini marshmallows and some sweet smelling coon lure. Caught a coon the first check and was ecstatic! Since then I have caught a fieldmouse and replaced bait daily- still waiting for the coons to come back..
