Re: CR supports

I'm working on a rebar staking/support system right now that should be dynamite. I'll keep you posted.
It's basically a 30" rebar with a nut welded on the top.
A 20D nail swivel on the stake to attach snare to.
18" of doubled/twisted #9 wire welded to the stake with a 12" single wire lead for the business end.
Super stiff support that will still fold out of the way after a catch.
Only one stake to drive as well.

Re: CR supports

I gathered a bunch of voting signs AFTER the elections last year to use. Just cut em in half at the top. You'll end up with 2 L shaped pieces. Grab the bottom part of the L and bend it up 90 degrease so it is parallel with the top part. Then grab the middle of the piece you just bent up and bend it down. The finished product should resemble an 'h'.
If you push both parts of the 'h' in the ground they will keep the wind from blowing it around, and you can hang your CR from the top half. I know this sound complicated but it really isn't after you do it once. Sorry I don't have pictures. There is a picture of it in the book you got when you took the course. It's on page 2 in my book. You could do the same thing with a piece of 9ga wire; I just used the sign wires because they were free. A note on gather signs, you can't legally pick them up until after 8:00pm the night of the election. I normally give contendents a couple of days to pick them up and if they’re still there 3-4 days they're mine. Hope this helps. Happy Trapping!

Some of the others I have heard of are floor mats for vehicles, and the fur shed. Just put them down on the floor before you start to skin / flesh and they catch all the drips. Then you just have to roll them up and throw them away. Makes clean up easy.
