Re: Comments On The Photos Only Thread

Love the skunks. Takes me back 50+ years. I loved catching them buggers.

Reminds me of the time I caught one up on the old canal bed right smack dab up against old man Henry's garage. I was just a stupid kid and didn't know any better so I shot the critter with the .22 but it didn't die so I kept throwing shots into it. I must have thrown 6-7 shots into it and, after each shot, it gave off a fresh round of perfume. Poor old man Henry couldn't hardly use his garage for a month and Hetty Curry up the road couldn't hang her wash for for a week. It was sometime later I learned that if I usually hit a skunk the first time and walked away it would eventually lie down and die over the next few hours with a very minimum of odor. So skunks shot in the morning were left till the afternoon for pickup.

Re: Comments On The Photos Only Thread

Thanks guys. I've been plinkin them in the back of the neck with a 22 short before they see me. 10 min later or so they're good to handle. A rinse in peroxide, baking soda and dawn and you don't even know it's a skunk anymore. That's how it's worked out so far anyway... I think it's too neat of a fur to throw in the ditch and since they haven't been hard to handle they're gonna make a nice hat!!

It is time to manage avian predators!

Re: Comments On The Photos Only Thread

I'd say more than half my catches were on lenon's fox lure. Def one maybe two yotes on Dobbin's Songdog Supreme (I should keep better track of what works, i know). Caught two greys on miranda's farmland fox. Also using Hiawatha Valley but I think all I caught so far on that was possums and skunks. It is a bait, so maybe I should wait til it gets a little colder to be using that...

Trappin Reds,
Beautiful coon, and what type of bait were you using to catch that nice boot you have pictured?
