Urine Expiration

I've kept last years Coyote urine in my scent/bait fridge all year. I would only take it out to fill up my dropper so it hasn't seen any warm temps. I sniff tested and do not smell ammonia.

Is it still good to use for this season?

When would you throw out any urines or baits?

Re: Urine Expiration

Keep and use the urine as long as you do not get that strong ammonia smell. A slight odor is many times present but as long as it doesn't dominate the overall odor it is just fine for use.

The easiest way I have ever found to determine the value of urine is to dig a deep dirt hole, the bait hole 10 inches or deeper, and pour one straight shot of urine, about one full ounce, straight down the hole and see what happens. If foxes or coyotes 'work' the set you know the urine is valid and can be employed all over your 'line.

Some trappers use no other bait or lure.

I would throw bait out when it becomes purely rancid or canines, dogs, foxes or coyotes, want to roll on it.

Bait, if properly preserved and flies kept out of the brew, can last a surprisingly long time.

I trap mink because I don't know any better
