Rings

Guys, I'm new to trapping. I just purchased some used Vic #2. The ring that is on the end of the chain, how do you stake them? I am using 18" rebar. I want to buy some stake swivels to use. Do i just take the swivel off and attach the stake swivel with a S hook? thx

Either/or. You can do it either way but I think I am safe in saying most trappers remove the rings nowadays.

I trap mink because I don't know any better

Re: Rings

The rings are pretty much useless when making dirt sets, and trying to stake with rebar.

Re: Rings

I use the flat-washer type re-rod stake swivels on fox traps and Berkshire double stake swivels on 'yote traps.

I get 'em both from Keith Winkler at Sterling Fur Co. in Ohio.

Re: Rings

Thanks Guys. I bought some double stake swivels and plan on removing the rings and attaching the stake swivel with a J Hook, which came with them. I ordered from Murray's. i have to say they are really quick. I placed the order on Monday, and I got them yesterday and paid regular shipping. Still waiting on my ID tags though.

That's just good, sincere business right there. Kudos to Murray's.

Sterling is very quick to ship as well. If I order by lunchtime or so today, the UPS truck will be in my driveway tomorrow morning. Good guys at Sterling, as well.
