How to clean out a 55g Barrel

I have a 55g barrel that is cut in half that had hydraulic oil in it. I am going to use this to dye my traps in but I need to clean it out frist. What is the best method to do this?

hot water and lots of dawn dish washing soap and a stiff brush and lots of elbow grease. get it as clean as you can like that and then burn it out.

Yes, burn it out good. You can use old newspaper. Then use the dawn dish soap and a wirebrush. Rinse clean and you are ready to go.
