Favorite .22 trapping ammo

Was at the sporting goods store this evening and was looking at 22 lr hollow point sub-sonics. For the life of me I cannot remember what I was using last year. I like something quiet, and I do use "other" methods. What do you all prefer (.22 wise)?

I'll keep my money, guns, ammo, and health care; you can keep your change

I use 22 calibri rounds. It is powderless rounds. Super quite, works on coons and opossums. Fox I thump them with a steel rod. Never caught a coyote, probably won't use the steel rod, if I ever catch one. Probably will passout from excitement.

My dad and I use Remington 45 grain hollow points in long rifle, because I want to drop a coyote at 40 yards if we have a bad catch and don't want to risk getting close.

Up all night!

Re: Favorite .22 trapping ammo

Have had poor results with low velocity .22's.

.22 high velocity shorts, or short hollow points if you can find them.

Common over-the-counter shorts. No special brand.

I trap mink because I don't know any better

Re: Favorite .22 trapping ammo

after a few 20+ lb coons became "res-erected" in the back of an s-10 blazer, i stopped using shorts and went with regular long rifle in the side arm. i carry a 22 mag/20 ga in the truck for yotes that are toe caught.

Now your diggin' where the 'tators are!
