What made the hole

I have a small creek that runs along my property and a home maybe 4-5 inches across has appeared and goes down toward the creek. My dog keeps messing around over there I expect muskrat but wondered how to handle it. I canít figure out how to post a picture or I would any advice is appreciated.

How far from the creek is the hole? You have to post your photo on a photo hosting site such as postimage.org, then from there to here. There is a way to post directly from your computer to this site but I don't know how, maybe someone else can tell you.

Alot of times muskrat holes that were dug from the creek bank back into the bank will get a weak spot in the "ceiling" back away from the creek or pond a little bit and will cave in. This creates a vertical hole going down to the horizontal hole that is the muskrat tunnel. Could possibly be what you are looking at.
