Fisher/cat season

Has anyone had the question answered as to the legality of tagging a cat/Fisher on the opening day??

I know traps can't be staked or set prior to 7am opening day.

If I am checking my canine line at 8am on the opening day of Fisher/cat season, can I legally dispatch and tag it???

Kind of a gray area. Those traps were set prior to the season...legally. Traps aren't species specific.

I don't wanna break the law.

Woodswalker could answer this better than me but I believe it would be considered a mistake but if you have a tag you can call the PGC and tell them the situation with luck they'll take your info and tell you to use your tag.

I would agree with Dietsch.....if itís after the season opens, you should be good. You would be speculating to say it wasnít caught after the 7:00am starting time.

Dietsch, you tagged and reported a cat or Fisher on the very first day of the season? Without looking, I think dec15 this year....

I have a call into a WCO.

Getting ready to set as soon as the orange army vacates the woods...just want to handle a catch on the first day legally.
